Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Certification

Planning ahead isn't only about your health today. It can also mean making sure the people you trust are able to act on your behalf should you lose the ability to make certain decisions for yourself in the future.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more persons, known as Donees, to make decisions and act on your behalf should you lose mental capacity.
What Does an LPA Certificate Issuer Do?
As part of making an LPA, the document must be witnessed and certified by an authorised Certificate Issuer.

The Certificate Issuer's role includes establishing that the donor understands the purpose and scope of the LPA, is not being induced by fraud or undue pressure, and that there is nothing else preventing the LPA from being created
Who Can Make an LPA?
An individual making an LPA must be at least 21 years old and have mental capacity when making the LPA.
